Chamfer coffee table

Douglas Fir, Aluminum

The Chamfer Table draws from the vernacular of architecture, translating familiar forms and details across scales to inhabit the interior. Its simple modernist design language is contrasted by the natural visual complexity of flat-sawn Douglas fir. The perforated aluminum sheet provides a sense of visual levity, balancing the weight an presence of the solid wood.

Nolan Talbot-Kelly is a designer and artist living and working in Vancouver B.C. on the unceded land of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.

Drawing influence from the built environment—brackets, fasteners, supports, and infrastructural details— Talbot-Kelly creates furniture, lighting, and sculptural pieces rooted in craftsmanship and conceptual inquiry. His design language blurs the boundary between utility and aesthetic by appropriating mass-produced materials in ways that transcend their commercial utility.
